Today, I debuted my official perfume line at Miraval Resort Spa in Arizona. Blending essential oils & absolutes has become my passion (or obsession) and I’m always wanting to learn more and more about the process. Each perfume has a featured fragrance, such as SERENE which stars Tuberose with Violet Absolute. Most of the time, I can nail a fragrance goal in one attempt. Sometimes I fail (every so often). I learned that Lavender and Alcohol Denat do NOT get along, so any lavender notes will only be utilized with my moisturizers.
My fascination for perfume blending began in 1995 when I would sample the perfume oil bar at Fred Segal in Santa Monica. I LOVED being able to blend whatever strange, concoction suited me, label it, and take it home. My next experience related to blending was 11 years later, when I participated in Le Artisan’s perfume workshop. I loved their fragrances and was able to visit their flagship store in Paris one year later.
I love blending with natural materials and pretty abhor anything synthetic. The tropical notes of banana, pineapple, and mango are synthetic so I’m always searching for high quality versions of those, but for the most part, synthetic fragrances are persona no grata in my workspace.
SERENE sold out today!!!! Of course, why wouldn’t it?
